  • niice work. By the way... gotta answer your questions...

    4. a)

    3/4 + 2/3

4&3 can be divided as a result of 12.

    the denominator would be 12.

    there are three 4's in a twelve so 3x3 = 9

    9/12

    there are four 3's in a twelve so 4x2 = 8

    8/12

    9/12 + 8/12

    = 17/12

in mixed number, 17 divided by 12 is equals 1 5/12.

  • 4. b)

    2 1/3 - 1 1/4

    the denominator would be 12.

    there are four 3's in a twelve so 4x1 = 4.

    2 4/12

    there are three 4's in a twelve so 3x1 = 3.

    1 3/12

    2 4/12 - 1 3/12

    = 1 1/12

    there finished.

  • 4. a) 3/4 + 2/3

The common denominator would be 12 also known as the GFC.

    3/4 = 3x3=9 4x3=12 9/12
    2/3 = 2x4=8 3x4=12 8/12

now that the denominators are the same, you can add both of the numerators.

    9+8=17

    the answer is 17/12

as a mixed number, the answer would be 1 5/12

  • 4. b) 2 1/3 - 1 1/4

The common denominator would be 12 also known as the GCF (Greatest Common Factor)

    2 1/3 = 1x4 3x4=12
    1 1/4 = 1x3 4x3=12

now that the demonators are the same, you can now subtract.

    2 4/12 - 1 3/12 = 1 1/12

since this is a mixed number, the answer for an improper fraction would be 13/12

  • 4) a) Laay has 3/4 scoops of ice cream and her friend Sha has 2/3 scoops. How much scoops do they have all together?

    ANSWER :

    3/4 + 2/3 = 9/12 + 17/12

    9/12 + 17/12 = 17/12 or 1 5/12

  • b) Anne has 2 1/3 bag of candy. If she gives Mia 1 1/4 of her candy, how much candies does she have left?

    ANSWER:

    2 1/3 - 1 1/4 = 4/12 - 3/12
